Savannah Ya'll...

On the way down to Savannah GA. Looking forward to seeing the old houses and tasting some great food. Looking for southern hospitality then this is your place.

Need a place to stay well Savannah is loaded with hotels, motels, B&B's and you can even stay at some of the old houses in the historic district as a vacation rental.

When you sight see in Savannah then be sure to take one of the open air trolleys. We liked the Old Town Trolley Tour. The drivers give you a detail of each block you go down and its not just a recording so ask lots of questions. With your ticket on the trolley you can jump on and off as much as you like they have 15 or more stops at all the hot spots in Savannah. Be sure to see the pirates house. It is now a restaurant and they have an incredible lunch if i must say so myself. You should call ahead of time and make reservations because they fill up fast. Another nice hot spot is River Street. This area is full of century old cotton warehouses that have been restored and turned into restaurants, candy shops, bars, and retail shops. If you have had enough shopping and walking then take a seat on the rivers edge and watch the huge boats some into one of Americas largest ports. No matter what you enjoy Savannah has it for you.

We went down for one day took the trolley and saw all the hot spots of Savannah. We had a great time as a family during this trip.

Leaves are falling....

Looking at your husband or wife and wondering where can we spend some alone time? Well no place is more beautiful then the mountains in the fall. Here is a hot spot for romance in the fall.

Lady on the Hill: How Biltmore Estate Became an American Icon
For some great romance with a little touch of adventure Biltmore Estates in Asheville NC is the place to be. Biltmore is Americas largest privately owned home. It is located just minutes from the Blue Ridge Parkway and has been named #1 Fall Foliage Destination in the US! Couples can enjoy staying at the Inn on Biltmore Estate that offers, fine dining, exquisite spa services and marvelous mountain views. Finished relaxing at the spa then head over to Antler Hill Village and Winery. You can take a free tour of the winery and then enjoy complementary wine tasting. Also enjoy live music, restaurants and shops. Want some peace and quite then take a romantic carriage ride. You should stop off at the bass pond and sit in the Gazebo and take in all the sounds and views that fall in the mountains brings.

Ready for adventure then grab a bicycle or go on a Land Rover Driving experience through the 8,000 acre backyard. Grab your fly rod and lets go fly fishing or maybe canoe down the French Broad River or saddle up for some mountain horse back riding. No matter what you enjoy you will fall in love with Biltmore.

Its Fall!!!

Its fall the leaves are starting to turn and the air is warm with a fresh feel about it. After a 100+ degree summer its time for a break. Well lets head to the pumkin farm to find some yard decor and some fall fun.

There are lots of great pumkin farms with tons of family fun to be had. If you are in North Carolina then here is a great site to find a pumpkin farm near you http://thepumpkindirectory.com/.

More time to travel...

If you are like me, then you love driving the open roads of America discovering all that our country has. The reason I am starting this blog is to help others easily find great places to spend a day trip exploring. I want to give everyone a review of all the amazing places that I have been on my travels. I am from North Carolina so I am starting in my home state then moving on to other states that surround me.

Last I discussed Chimney Rock NC, so lets travel east to the Outer Banks. Kitty Hawk, and Nags Head North Carolina are so close to each other they touch borders. You will not find any towering hotels and dinner shows here.  This area of ocean is lined with beautiful multi-story homes and cottages. There are still a few small ocean front hotels left here if that is what you like. The best experiences here are had with a home that sleeps 15 people for all the family to stay. All of the homes are fully equipped so you can enjoy a home cooked breakfast in the morning and a steak on the grill for dinner. The views from the decks are incredible. Make sure to get a house that has a deck on top for the best views of the entire coastline.

Local attractions are the ever changing sand dunes. If you have never had the pleasure of seeing it, well lets just imagine a 400+ acre sandbox for adults and kids. If you need the get the adrenaline pumping then there is nothing like jumping off the top of one of the 90 foot dunes at Jockeys Ridge with a huge kite on your back. That's right hang gliding! There is always a breeze blowing in the outer banks so kite flying is made easy here.

Speaking of breezes you can also see where the first controlled power flight took place. If you wanted to know why all of the North Carolina license plates say First in Flight on them then you should check out the Wright Brothers National Memorial. You can walk the same grounds as Orville and Wilbur Wright and see the distance each flight went with the markers on the ground.

If you want more adventure then you should try your hand at scuba diving in the graveyard of the Atlantic. Thousands of old shipwrecks lay at the bottom of the ocean just a short distance from the beaches.

There is just so much to see and do you cant get it all in just one day but I have tried to give you some of the highlights. Its your turn to experience the magic of North Carolina's Outer Banks.

Where togo today?

With all the running around in families today we each need to take time to relax and enjoy life.  I find our family sits around wasting time with last minute planning of what can we do today together. We love to take day trips to wonderful places and show our kids what our country has to offer. Some people are beach lovers and others love the mountains.  North Carolina offers the best of both worlds.

First off is one of my favorites, Chimney Rock State Park http://www.chimneyrockpark.com/. The park is full of breath taking views.  Lake Lure is just minutes away and can be seen in all its luster from the peak of Chimney Rock. They offer hiking trails, bird watching, rock climbing and even a cool mist from Hickory Nut Falls.

My family and I spent a fun and amazing day together checking out Chimney Rock State Park.  This is what a road trip is all about.
